Belarus in person: Abramov Semyon

Semyon Abramov was born on June 25, 1936 in the village of Sloboda, Smolensk region (Russia). He graduated from Gorky Art College (1957) (now Nizhny Novgorod Art College). Diploma Project: Graphic Composition «At Rehearsal».

Since 1959 he has been living in Bobruisk. In 1970-1983, he was executive secretary of the Mogilev Regional Organization of the Union of Artists of Belarus. In 1989, he organized the first international plein air of painting in Belarus (Mogilev, Bobruisk), which was attended by artists from Armenia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania, Turkmenistan.

Participant of art exhibitions since 1961, member of the Belarusian Union of Artists since 1970.

Semyon Tikhonovich works in the techniques of oil painting, easel and monumental decorative painting, watercolor. Among the works: «in memory of V. Mulyavin» (2003-2004), a series of watercolors about military pilots (1967-1977) and the life and creative path of A. S. Pushkin «The Story of one Life» (more than 300 works; 1960-2009), cycles of paintings and watercolors «Conquerors of Space» (1971-2009), «capitals» (ser. 1970s - 2009), «Echo of the War», «Novy Bobruisk», portraits by M. A. Savitsky, «the last of the Mohicans – Belarusian artists who participated in the Great Patriotic War» (2006-2008).

He is the author of stained glass windows for the Bobruiskfermmash dispensary and JSC Belshina, mosaics for secondary school No. 2 in Rogachev, the tapestry «The Tale of Bobruisk», murals «man and Nature» for the Zhilitsky State Technical College (Kirovsky district).

The artist's works are in the collections of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Artists, the Mogilev Regional Art Museum named after P. V. Maslenikov, the Bobruisk Art Museum, and in foreign art galleries and museums.
