Developed by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), WIPO Lex is a free database containing intellectual property-related WIPO international treaties, relevant national legislation from a large number of countries and a catalogue of court decisions in intellectual property cases. Its potential users include lawyers, members of the judiciary, national and regional patent offices, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field.
WIPO Lex provides access to more than 50,000 laws, treaties and court decisions from countries, regions, jurisdictions, and judicial bodies around the world. Users can find and study documents sorted by type, and can also obtain a selection of texts for specific jurisdictions. In addition, WIPO Lex has built-in artificial intelligence elements that translate materials into the chosen language.
Each legal document on the portal is labelled with its number, year of adoption, and amendment history. In case an outdated version of a document is included in the research results, a link to its latest version is automatically generated on the page. Such features of the WIPO Lex portal make it even more convenient and popular among intellectual property specialists.
