The World Intellectual Property Organization's WIPO Consortium for Authors and the Music Rights Awareness Foundation launched a new online platform to raise awareness of intellectual property (IP) rights and related management practices among authors, designed to give them visibility, recognition and fair remuneration.
The CLIP platform (stands for «Creators Learn Intellectual Property») is an easy-to-use, free online platform that will be populated with carefully selected content from experienced musicians and IP experts to help authors make better business decisions.
«Authors use their talent and artistic vision to give us music, artwork, song and dance. Supporting them is crucial to the wealth of any society and country. We must do everything possible to enable them to excel in their field and contribute positively to society. CLIP will help creators gain the knowledge and skills they need to transform their passion for creativity into a fulfilling profession,» emphasized WIPO Director General Daren Tang.
By early 2024, the CLIP platform will be available in six languages. The first version of the CLIP platform is dedicated to the music industry and will allow users to explore the ecosystem of the sector, learn who is involved in bringing a song to market, understand the rights of music creators and their effective management, and much more.
