Every year on September 15, Belarus celebrates Library Day – holiday for everyone whose life is connected with books, knowledge and education. Today, libraries are evolving alongside the rest of the world, having long since ceased to be merely places for storing and lending books. It is libraries that preserve historical memory and contribute to education, scientific research and spiritual development. In the digital age, they are successfully embracing new technologies, providing access to electronic resources and online services.

The Republican Scientific and Technical Library (RLST) holds a special place within Belarus’s library system – it is the largest specialised information centre in the field of science and technology. It holds over 59 million publications, patent documents, industrial catalogues and technical regulatory acts essential for the development of innovation and the conduct of scientific research. Every year, over half a million readers, as well as more than 2,000 enterprises and organisations, make use of the RLST’s services.
