Every first Sunday of September, Belarus celebrates the Day of Belarusian Written Language – a holiday that not only links the Belarusian printed word with the history and culture of the people, but also emphasizes the importance of intellectual property in modern society. This day was established by the Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 1994 and in 2025 is celebrated on September 7.

This year's holiday is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the 500th anniversary of the publication of the book В«ApostleВ» by Francisk Skaryna, anniversaries of prominent figures representing national literature. Traditionally, festive events are held in cities – historical centers of culture, science, literature and printing, such as Polotsk, Turov, Novogrudok, Nesvizh, Orsha, Pinsk, Lida, etc. There are organized platforms for discussing issues of preservation of tangible and intangible assets, as well as protection of copyright and related rights.

The main idea of the holiday is to carefully preserve and develop the spiritual heritage of Belarus, popularize national traditions, and support Belarusian literature and book publishing. The Day of Belarusian Written Language reminds of the need to form responsibility for the observance and protection of copyright, which will contribute to the preservation and enhancement of the cultural and intellectual wealth of Belarus.

Congratulations on the Day of Belarusian Written Language! We wish you inspiration, new ideas and creative success!
