Vladimir Matsveev was born on March 13, 1956 in Vitebsk. In 1979, he graduated from the Vitebsk Medical Institute. From 1980 to 1982, he held the position of a resuscitation doctor at the Vitebsk Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital. From 1982, he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Vitebsk Medical Institute. From 1983 to 1987, he studied at the D. I. Ivanovsky Institute of Virology of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (Moscow) in the specialty "Infectious Diseases". He defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences.
In 1988, he worked as an assistant at the Department of Pediatrics of the Vitebsk State Medical Institute, in 1991 he became an associate professor, and since 1997 - a professor of this department, head of a course aimed at the study of childhood infectious diseases. He defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences at the Academy of Postgraduate Education in St. Petersburg. He received the title of Professor of Clinical Medicine (2003).
Since 2005, Vladimir Matsveev has worked as the head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the Belarusian Academy of Postgraduate Education (Minsk). Since 2010, he has been a professor at the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel at Vitebsk State Medical University.
V. Matsveev is a member of the Society of Infectious Diseases Specialists and Pediatricians of the Republic of Belarus, a member of the Standing Commission of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus on Vaccine Prevention, and the Chairman of the Belarusian branch of the International Association of Pharmacoeconomists.
He is the author of more than 180 scientific papers on cytomegalovirus infection, immunopathogenesis, clinical immunology, and infectious diseases of children. Honored Worker of Health Care of the Republic of Belarus.
