Leonid Danelia was born on March 27, 1946 in Brest. The son of the Brest artist Petr Danelia. In 1963-1965 he studied at the Minsk Art College,
in 1970 he graduated from the Belarusian Theater and Art Institute. He studied with L. Shchamyalev, A. Malyshevski, V. Gusev, V. Tsvirka. Participant of art exhibitions since 1976. Works in the field of artistic design and design, as well as in monumental-decorative and easel painting. Member of the Belarusian Union of Artists since 1988.

Author of projects and artistic interior designer of the Belaya Rus rest house on Lake Naroch, the kindergarten of the Elema factory in Minsk (panels, stained glass), the hotel complex of the Zakozelsky state farm in the Brest region (decorative painting, stained glass, chandeliers, co-authored), as well as the author of the paintings «Babina Leta», «On Pripyat», «Waiting», «Veronica», «Brest Madonna - 1942. In Memory of the Holocaust», etc.

The artist's works are in the Polotsk Historical and Cultural Reserve, the Belarusian Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, the funds of the Belarusian Union of Artists, and the Museum of Modern Fine Arts in Minsk.
