Agreement on the Protection and Enforcement of Copyright on the Internet was signed

On November 12, 2021, in Bishkek, at a meeting of the Council of Heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Members, the Agreement on Cooperation of the CIS Member States on the Protection and Enforcement of Copyright and Related Rights in Information and Telecommunication Networks was signed.
The purpose of the Agreement is to create conditions for improving the system of copyright and related rights protection in the context of ITC technologies development, implementation of joint measures by the CIS member states aimed at creating mechanisms to counteract the infringement of copyright and related rights in information and telecommunication networks, including the Internet.
The adoption of this Agreement will allow consolidating the efforts of the CIS member states to protect copyright and related rights in modern conditions, including in the development and implementation of measures to prevent and suppress illegal use of copyright and related rights objects in information and telecommunication networks, including the use of technical means of protection, etc.
The coordinating body for the implementation of the Agreement provisions is the CIS sectoral cooperation body – the Interstate Council on the Legal Protection and Enforcement of Intellectual Property.
