Vladimir Korsh-Sablin was born on March 29, 1900 in Moscow in the family of publisher Vladimir Mikhailovich Sablin. His grandfather was the famous theater figure Fyodor Korsh. Since 17 years V. Korsh-Sablin worked in various theaters under the surname of his grandfather. Served in the cavalry as an assistant and adjutant of the regiment commander. Participated in the storming of Perekop.
In 1923 he was invited as a military consultant to the shooting of a movie. Then began his passion for cinematography, which was supported by a relative, a famous actor, playwright and novice film director Y. Tarich. Under his guidance during 1925-1929, V. Korsh-Sablin became a filmmaker. V. Korsh-Sablin, as an assistant director and actor, participated in the creation of the films «Wings of a Coldfoot», «First Lights», the first Belarusian feature film «Forest Bull» (based on the story by N. Kamysh), and others.
In 1929 V. Korsh-Sablin started to create his first independent film «Born in Fire», dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the BSSR. He was lucky to release the first sound film of the Belarusian cinema «First Platoon» («Western Front», 1933). The historical-revolutionary problems were continued in the feature films «The Fiery Years» (1939);» Konstantin Zaslonov ‘(1949, together with A. Feintsimer, State Prize of the USSR 1950);’ Moscow - Genoa «(1964, together with A. Speshnev and P. Armand, State Prize of Belarus 1968.
Great success was enjoyed by the audiences of different generations of lyrical comedies U. Korsh-Sablin «Seekers of Happiness» (1936) and «my love» (1940). During the Great Patriotic War, the director in the blockade in Leningrad was preparing for the production of the film-tale «blacksmith Vernidub» Belarusian children's writer A. Yakimovich, and after the evacuation from Leningrad to Alma-Ata led a group of front-line cameramen who shot a documentary film «Liberation of Belarus» (1944).
After the war, Vladimir Korsh-Sablin created a film about the revival of the village «New House» (1947), idyllic novella about the village «Sowed the girls flax» (1956), made a screen adaptation of the plays of the outstanding playwright K. Nettles «singing larks» (1953) and «who laughs last» (1955). On the trilogy of J. Kolas» at the crossroads ‘made a movie’ The First Tests «(1960-1961).
The filmmaker paid much attention to the creative affairs of the Belarusfilm studio, of which he was the artistic director (1945-1960, 1969-1974), as well as the Union of Cinematographers of the BSSR, which he headed from 1957 to 1974. During his creative life Vladimir Korsh-Sablin received all possible ranks, titles, awards in the field of cinema and forever entered the history of the Belarusian cinema art.
