WIPO IP Diagnostic Tool available for small and medium-sized enterprises

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) introduces a free Intellectual Property (IP) Diagnostic Tool designed for small and medium-sized enterprises. The program offers a series of IP questions that the user answers based on the specifics of his or her business. The questions cover all the main areas of business that can be affected by IP.

This questionnaire can be used to find out:

• how IP affects the business activities of a particular enterprise;
• what potential IP assets the enterprise already has;
• recommendations on how to manage IP assets to help grow the business.

In addition, WIPO's IP Diagnostic Tool provides information on various IP rights relevant to the enterprise as well as to provide answers in the following areas:

• patenting;
• registration of intellectual property rights;
• disposition of exclusive rights.

Based on the answers provided, the program promptly generates an individual report on the potential IP assets of a particular enterprise. The report also includes recommendations for effective IP management and can become the basis for developing an IP management strategy that meets the needs of the enterprise.
