Nikolai Konstantinovich Kazakevich was born on May 5, 1934 in the village of Duleby, Berezinski district, Minsk region. During the Great Patriotic War he lost his parents and until 1950 he was brought up in the Berezinsk orphanage. In 1955 he graduated from the Minsk Art School, in 1961 - from the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute. His teachers were famous artists V. Tsvirka, A. Shevchenko, Y. Sukhaverkhov, A. Mazalev.

Having received a professional education, N. Kazakevich had the opportunity to stay in the capital, but together with fellow students decided to work at the Gomel School of Painting. Thanks to the joint efforts of the young artistic team, in a few years, along with the Vitebsk school of watercolor, the Gomel school of painting became known, which became a continuer of the best traditions of Impressionism and is characterized by a bright, joyful sense of life, brightness of colors.

From 1961 to 2000 he worked at the factory В«Khudozhestvenny of the Art Fund of Belarus in Gomel, he was the chairman of the monumental-artistic council of Gomel region. Since 1961 he began to participate in international and republican art exhibitions, including personal open-air exhibitions. Since 1963 he has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists.

Nikolai Kazakevich worked in easel painting in the genre of lyrical landscape. His works are characterized by an inimitable poetic style, naturalness, painterly element, light, touching brushstrokes, complete rejection of small descriptions. The artist especially accurately conveys the unique features of Belarusian nature - its spiritualized rhythmic order, harmony of color harmonies (В«Spring in GomelВ» (1972), В«On PalessieВ» (1976), В«Great Water on the BesyadyВ» (1996), В«Evening on the DnieperВ» (2000) and others.

The geography of N. Kazakevich's paintings is not limited to the Motherland, and the names of the works speak for themselves: В«Vltava RiverВ», В«Valaam IslandВ», В«KizhiВ», В«MilogradВ», В«Mount Sekir. PaslenovyeВ».

A special place in the work of N. Kazakevich takes thematic picture В«Behind enemy linesВ» (1964), which shows how the partisans in the secret semi-darkness to repair their weapons in order to enter into battle with the enemy in a matter of minutes.

N. Kazakevich, Honored Art Worker of Belarus (1988), was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples of Francysk Skaryna and the bronze medal of the VDNG for his work В«YouthВ» for his high professional skill, significant personal contribution to the development of culture and art.

In 2000 Nikolai Kazakevich became a laureate of the State Prize of Belarus for his series of landscapes В«Landscapes of BelarusВ» (1995-1998). The artist's works are in the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus, the Museum of Modern Fine Arts in Minsk, the P.V. Maslenikov Mogilev Regional Art Museum, the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum, the Gomel and Vitebsk Regional Museums, the G.H. Vashchenko Picture Gallery in Gomel, in galleries and private collections in Belarus and abroad.
