The Expert Council considered the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus «On Amendments to Laws Concerning the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property»

On 18 June 2026, at a meeting of the Expert Council of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus «On Amendments to Laws Concerning the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property» was considered (draft Law).

The meeting of the expert council was attended by Aliaksei Kurman, Director General of the National Centre of Intellectual Property (the NCIP).

The draft law provides amendments to all six special laws in the field of intellectual property, as well as amendments relating to intellectual property matters in the laws «On Scientific and Technical Information», «On Public Procurement of Goods (Works, Services)» and the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus.

Amendments provided by the Draft Law:

  • relate to the optimisation of administrative procedures carried out by the National Centre of Intellectual Property (the NCIP) as part of its activities to provide legal protection for intellectual property;
  • are aimed at bringing legislation into line with the Civil Code and other legislative acts;
  • relate to law enforcement practice.

The members of the expert council endorsed the draft Law and noted that its adoption would ensure comprehensive and systematic legal regulation of social relations relating to the legal protection of intellectual property.
