Priority directions of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activity for 2026-2030 approved

On April 1, 2025, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Edict No. 135, which approved the priority areas of scientific, scientific-technical and innovation activities in the country for 2026-2030.

The document defines key areas that ensure results in knowledge-intensive and high-tech sectors of the economy, competitive advantages and technological security: digital technologies and artificial intelligence, innovations in industry, biological and medical technologies, innovations in the agro-industrial complex and food industry, scientific and scientific-technical provision of security of man, society and state.

The Edict establishes that priority implementation will be given to cross-cutting areas of inter-branch nature, the results of which have a significant impact on the development of several areas of the economy and social sphere.

In accordance with the priorities, state programs of scientific research, scientific and technical programs, and the State Program of Innovative Development of Belarus for 2026-2030 shall be formed and approved. The role of heads of state customers of the programs is strengthened. They are personally responsible for the efficient use of funds, timely fulfillment of tasks and achievement of planned results.

The Edict is also aimed at consolidation of scientific, educational and production potentials, concentration of material and intellectual resources on realization of the most significant directions of scientific, scientific-technical and innovation activities to ensure technological sovereignty of the country.
