Officially
On September 17, the Republic of Belarus celebrates the National Unity Day. This public holiday was established by the Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated June 7, 2021 No. 206.
The celebration of this date has become a symbol of historical justice for the Belarusian people, who were divided against their will in 1921 as part of the Riga Peace Treaty.
The restoration of the unity of Belarus in 1939 played an important role during the Great Patriotic War, allowing the country to take its rightful place in the international community and become a co-founder of the United Nations.
Today, the Belarusian people are united in their desire to develop a strong, sovereign and prosperous state. The establishment of the National Unity Day emphasizes the importance of generations and the steadfastness of the Belarusian nation and statehood.
This holiday was another step towards strengthening the national unity and pride of the Belarusian people for their history and achievements.
