On November 29, 2024, the Forum of the Union of Lawyers В«Law in the Modern WorldВ» completed its work. The event was organized by the public association В«Belarusian Republican Union of LawyersВ», the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center of Legislation and Legal Information of the Republic of Belarus, the National Personal Data Protection Center of the Republic of Belarus, and the limited liability company В«YurSpektrВ».
As part of the section В«Legal Protection of Intellectual Property: Problems of Theory and Practice,В» U. Rabavolau, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), spoke about the key aspects of functioning of the national intellectual property system and its impact on the innovation sphere of Belarus.
В«We strive to create conditions for the effective commercialization of intellectual property, and this requires more active use of patent research and analytics tools,В» noted U. Rabavolau.
The NCIP is working to create conditions for the innovative development of the national economy, which includes, among other things, creation of preferences for organizations aimed at exempting from paying patent fees for industrial property created with budget funds. В«This will allow scientific organizations not only to save money, but also to improve the processes of commercialization of their developmentsВ», emphasized the Director General of the NCIP.
Important steps include improving the infrastructure of technology and innovation support centers, as well as modernizing the information resource В«Intellectual Property ExchangeВ». As part of the latest initiative, it is planned to introduce new patent information services and expand the range of objects presented on the Exchange for commercialization.
В«Our goal is to create all the necessary conditions to ensure technology transfer through intellectual property tools,В» summed up U. Rabavolau.
Diana Ivanova (Leading Specialist of the Division of Industrial Property Law and Treaties of the Legal and Human Resources Department of the NCIP) also took part in the work of the section and spoke about the prospects for creating an effective legal framework for the protection of trade secrets (know-how).
