On January 21, 2026, under the leadership of Denis Korzhitsky, Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) summarized the results of its work in 2025.

In his speech, NCIP Director General Aliaksei Kurman presented the results of the key development areas of the patent office.

«The development of the intellectual property system, as well as international cooperation in this area, remain among our annual priorities.

Among the most significant documents of 2025, it is worth noting the Agreement with the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of intellectual property and the Action Plan for 2026-2027 for the Implementation of the Strategy of the Republic of Belarus in the field until 2030,» said Aliaksei Kurman.

Speaking about the activities of the NCIP as a patent office, the Director General noted that in 2025, the NCIP received 8,096 applications for the issuance of protection documents. «Despite a slight decrease in the number of applications for the patents of the Republic of Belarus for inventions, utility models, industrial designs, and topographies of integrated circuits, interest in registering plant varieties continues to grow among both domestic and foreign applicants,» added Aliaksei Kurman.

The Director General also emphasized the need to support the development of state scientific and technical programmes for 2026-2030 and to conduct training via the NCIP’s on-site specialized courses for various industries.

As part of its role as a collective management organization, the NCIP achieved significant results: the amount of royalties collected in 2025 exceeded 14 million Belarusian rubles, a 118% increase to 2024. «The number of contracts concluded in the field of collective management reached 1,188, which indicates growing interest from users and right holders of musical works,» noted Aliaksei Kurman.

The digitization of the office’s activities proved effective: the automated information system «State Register of Industrial Property of the NCIP» was launched, and 24 administrative procedures in the field of intellectual property were transferred to electronic form.

«We have set ambitious goals for 2026, including expanding cooperation with scientific organizations and industrial entities on the creation and commercialization of intellectual property, conducting educational events (both industry-specific and regional), and continuing the digital transformation of our activities,» concluded the Director General.

During the event, Aleksandr Zayats, Deputy Director General of the NCIP, presented a report on the key results of the NCIP’s scientific activities for 2025. In his speech, he highlighted the scientific research and development on intellectual property issues, and outlined aspects of methodological support, and detailed other important areas of the NCIP’s work.
