On April 10, 2025 within the framework of the seminar «National content in the air of Belarusian radio stations» a report on «The role and place of the National Center of Intellectual Property in ensuring the lawful use of musical works by radio companies» was made by Aliaksandr Zayats, Deputy Director General of the NCIP.

In the report, A. Zayats noted that the agency continues to successfully perform its functions as an organization for the collective management of property rights of authors and other right holders. As of March 31, 2025, 7,779 contracts had been concluded with the NCIP, which indicates a growing interest in simplifying the processes of using musical works.

«The key task is to establish effective interaction between authors and users, which allows authors to receive legitimate remuneration and users to save time and money,» said Aliaksandr Zayats, Deputy Director General of the NCIP.

Today the NCIP implements its collective management powers under 6,357 contracts with national authors and right holders: «In 2024, Belarusian authors received more than 5 million Belarusian rubles for the use of their works».

However, according to A. Zayatz, there are questions about the necessity of concluding separate contracts for each way of using musical works. «When you sign a contract for Internet broadcasting, you do not receive automatic authorization for broadcasting, and users should carefully examine the terms of the contracts,» added the Deputy Director General of the NCIP.

For reference:
In 2023, the NCIP received accreditation to collect remuneration for public performances, broadcasts and other forms of phonogram distribution.
