A. Zayats: Applications for extension of titles of protection in Belarus can be filed online

Within the framework of the event, held under the leadership of Denis Korzhitsky, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the results of the activities of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) for 2024 were summed up. Applications for patent renewal in Belarus can be filed online. This was announced by Deputy Director General of the NCIP Aliaksandr Zayats.

Special attention in the work of the NCIP is paid to the digitalization. The NCIP now receives applications for administrative procedures through the unified electronic services portal «E-Pasluga». In 2024, 34 administrative procedures became available on the portal: 20 procedures for legal entities, 14 for individuals. A. Zayats explained that users can make various applications from their homes. These include the extension and restoration of patents for inventions, utility models and industrial designs, as well as the extension of the validity period of registration of a trademark, service mark, collective mark and the right to use a geographical indication. «Today, those who have an NFC-enabled mobile phone can apply online in just 5 minutes. This is a great achievement for us», said the NCIP Deputy Director General.

The portal also provides administrative procedures for registering as a patent attorney, extending the validity period of this certificate, making changes and corrections to state registers of industrial property rights, a list of well-known trademarks in Belarus, the State Register of Licensing Agreements, Assignment Agreements and Pledge Agreements for Intellectual Property Rights, etc. In addition, using a single portal, you can apply for extracts from the state registers of industrial property rights, and submit for official publication an application for granting any person the right to use an of industrial property right (an open license).

«Another major project implemented by several NCIP divisions this year is the transition to continuous publication of patent documentation on all industrial property rights. This is the development of fundamentally new forms of documents and new approaches in the work of the department itself», added A. Zayats.
