NCIP Delegation Participates in the Discussion on the Current State of the Eurasian Patent System

On June 13-14, 2024, Minsk is hosting the International Scientific and Practical Conference В«Transformation of the Eurasian Patent System. Assessment and ProspectsВ», organized by the Assembly of Eurasian Patent Attorneys with the support of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO).

The delegation of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) headed by Director General Uladzimir Rabavolau took part in the event.

In his welcoming speech Mr. Rabavolau noted that the Republic of Belarus constantly monitors the changes in social relations both at the domestic and international levels, takes into account external factors and challenges of the present day in order to improve the national legislation in the field of intellectual property.

«We implement all planned positions, develop NCIP as an object of innovation infrastructure, take measures to create favorable conditions for our applicants. In 2023, there was an increase in applicant activity in several objects of industrial property rights at once. High activity is also noted on the part of foreign applicants: the number of filed applications increased by 78%», – emphasized Mr. Rabavolau.

The conference addresses the issues of harmonization of the legislation of the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC) member states, development of the Eurasian trademark protection system, patenting of inventions and examination of oppositions in the EAPO, obtaining legal protection for industrial designs in the Eurasian space, judicial practice of the EAPC member states in the field of intellectual property and others.
