The 9th Belt and Road Initiative Summit is held in the People's Republic of China from September 11-13, 2024 under the theme В«Building a Green, Innovative and Connected One Belt, One Road InitiativeВ». About 6 000 delegates representing governments, corporations and enterprises from 55 countries and economies around the world are attending the Summit.
On September 12, 2024, Uladzimir Rabavolau, Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), delivered a speech at the 3rd High-Level Conference on Intellectual Property on the sidelines of the Summit, in Beijing.

In his speech Mr. Rabavolau touched upon some aspects of Belarusian-Chinese relations in the field of intellectual property in the context of the
В«One Belt, One RoadВ» initiative:
- Over the last 10 years, the number of Eurasian patents for inventions of Chinese patentees, maintained in force in Belarus, has increased almost 5 times, over 19 years - 36 times, which indicates the dynamics of transfer of Chinese technologies to Belarus.
The NCIP Director General noted that the largest number of patents of the Republic of Belarus for inventions was granted to applicants from the PRC in such fields as В«Electronics and CommunicationsВ», В«Data ProcessingВ», В«Engines and PumpsВ», which indicates the high technological complexity of the submitted applications.
Uladzimir Rabavolau also highlighted that an important step for Belarus to intensify and develop trade and economic ties was joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which in July 2024 became a full-fledged, tenth member of the В«SCO familyВ».
– For our part, we are ready to provide all kinds of support to developers and producers within the framework of the «One Belt, One Road» initiative. The Republic of Belarus expresses its readiness to continue building international relations based on the principles of transparency, mutual assistance and support, which will contribute to the development of national intellectual property systems and strengthening the innovation potential of our countries.
