On behalf of the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus and on my own behalf, I sincerely congratulate you on the 30th anniversary of the Eurasian Patent Convention. This date is evidence of the success of many years of cooperation between the states parties to the Convention in the field of intellectual property protection.
The Eurasian Patent Organization has done a great job creating an effective patenting system. Over the past 10 years, the share of applications for inventions filed by the Belarusian applicants under the regional procedure from the total number of applications for inventions has increased more than 4 times, which indicates the demand for the Eurasian procedure.
Over the entire history, the Belarusian applicants have submitted about 2,200 applications under the Eurasian system of registration of industrial property rights. The Republic of Belarus is one of the most sought after countries for maintaining the Eurasian patents for inventions. More than 20 thousand patents for inventions have been maintained in force in Belarus over 30 years.
Since signing of the Convention, the Republic of Belarus and the Eurasian Patent Organization have been pursuing a sustainable policy of mutually beneficial cooperation. Over 30 years, more than 400 employees of the National Center of Intellectual Property have taken part in internship cycles and also visited the Eurasian Patent Office as part of business trips. Exchange of experience with foreign colleagues allows us to look at the intellectual property system from a different perspective and opens up new ways for its development.
The highly qualified team of the Eurasian Patent Office, which also includes representatives of the Republic of Belarus, has put much effort to create an effective intellectual property system.
The National Center of Intellectual Property highly values friendly and warm relations that have developed between our organizations. We are confident that we have many more years of joint fruitful work ahead for the benefit of all states parties to the Convention. I wish the Eurasian Patent Organization further success in achieving its goals, prosperity and new achievements!
Sincerely,
Director General
