On the way to the final of the invention contest «The best patent of Belarus»: Research Institute for Physical Chemiсal Problems BSU

According to the preliminary results of the invention contest «The best patent of Belarus», 15 finalists were identified, one of which was the Belarusian State University «Research Institute for Physical and Chemical Problems». It is one of the leading institutes of chemical profile in the Republic of Belarus. The scientific and technical potential of the institute allows solving complex problems in various fields of chemistry and chemical technology, providing scientific and technological support for both individual industries and some industries as a whole.

Antitumor pharmaceutical composition containing temozolomide and the method of its preparation developed by the Research Institute for FHP BSU and protected by Eurasian invention patent No. 031596 were submitted to the competition.

The invention relates to the field of pharmaceuticals and is used in medicine, in particular in oncology. The development is characterized by high efficacy, has improved stability, provides high availability of antitumor agent to tumor cells.

On the basis of the invention, the technology of production of domestic original pharmaceutical preparation «Temodex» has been developed in order to improve the effectiveness of treatment of cancer patients, as well as import substitution of expensive drugs. «Temodex» is an original drug and has only analog in prescription (local chemotherapy of brain tumors) - the drug ‘Gliadel’ (USA).

The presented antitumor pharmaceutical composition according to the Eurasian patent for invention No. 031596, being a basis for creation of medicinal preparations, allows increasing the life expectancy of patients with malignant tumors, the duration of relapse-free period, improving the quality of life.
