The Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia is celebrated annually on April 2. On this day in 1996, the heads of the states signed the Treaty on the Formation of the Community of Russia and Belarus, and a year later the Treaty on the Union of Belarus and Russia, which initiated the process of mutual integration of the two countries.
Recognizing the need to join forces to develop the field of intellectual property, back in 1994 the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation signed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Industrial Property Protection.
As part of the continuation of cooperation in this area, on March 13, 2025, an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property was signed.
In addition, the authorized state bodies and organizations of the two countries systematically take decisions aimed at harmonizing legislation and infrastructure in the field of intellectual property. As part of this work, the following documents were signed:
The platforms of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Eurasian Patent Organization, the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States are used as a tool for developing partnerships.
Multi-vector joint work contributes to increasing the scientific and technical capacity of both individual countries and the entire region, which has a positive effect on strengthening the potential of Belarus and Russia, and promotes the unity of peoples.
